What is love?

Answering that question is about as simple as answering, "What is life?". One subtle difference is that there are people who do not believe in love. I do not

know of anyone, and do not think it is possible to not believe in life.

But that is beside the point.

The point is that so many people of my generation (principally, young girls) think they are in love. Think they have been in love. Think it is some great,

wonderful, beautiful thing, full of happiness and wonder.

It is not.

Love is simply a mix painful and torturing agony.

People today think the movie scene love is what they will get when they fall, and fall hard, but it is not like that, never was like that, and probably never

will be like that. Not even just probably. Definitely.

Sweaty palms is not love. Love is not a racing heart, a trembling feeling, or not being able to speak in full sentences to that person. That is all liking

someone, to the point of nervousness. Far from love. Very far.

When you cannot keep your eyes or hands off them, feel a necessity to be with that person, hold them in your arms, and fall asleep in theirs, all you are

doing is lusting after them. Not even the close to love. Quite far.

Being proud that you are with them, and wanting the world to know, wanting to shout from the top of a mountain that they are yours to hold? Just luck. Not

love. Not even the same ballpark as love. Pretty far from.

You want to see them because you know they are there, and because you have seen them so much lately, am I right? You want to sleep with them (really sleep)

because you are just so comfortable lying next to them, correct? They know how to kiss the way you like it, and hold your hand at the perfect moments?

Loneliness, not love. Extremely far from love.

You are together because it is what you want, and they want, and what everyone says is right. Loyalty. Not love. Insanely far away.

You do not want to hurt them, they love you, and you may love them, and there is something there between the two of you. Pity. Love? Far on the other side of

the subject.

Your heart skips a beat every time you see them, and your voice jumps up and down? Gets caught in your throat and the words you are thinking just will not

come out right? Far from love? Perhaps not, if love is just infatuation, which, well...it is not.

Willing to give everything you have, will have, and want for them? Saying you think about them every second of every single minute you are awake, and even

when you are dreaming? You let stupid, little, bothersome things go, because you care for them. A friendship full of charity and lies, but love? You will not

find that until you are in a farther and deeper state of mind.

Your heart is full of pain, simply with one tear down their face? Your eyes water for their pain, even though they swear they are fine? Their eyes see so

deeply into who you are that it hurts? You stay because of a sense of relation pulling you close, and keeping you there? You let stupid, little, bothersome

things get to you, but deal with them not because you care for them, but because it is who they are? You are attracted to other people, but stay faithful

without one regret? You would allow them to leave, or leave them, because it would make them a better person, give them a better life? You would give them

your life, AND your death?

That, my dear friends, is love.

There is no such word as 'loved' because once you love, you cannot take back. If you love, the love is and always will be there. You do not hate something

you once 'loved', you have simply repressed those feelings, but they are still there, and will be forever.

Love is pain. Love is torture. And love is love.

Not something that comes and goes, because of the age and stage you are in with life.

It has always been, and always will be the one thing that only those who have truly felt it can understand. The most agonizing, torturing, painful feeling of

happiness and relation that one will ever know.

A truely stunning piece of writing that deserves more credit than what it has got.
This, is true.
